Marriage Enhancement God’s Way

Welcome to God’s Way Ministries! Marriage is the first institution created by God. (Gen2:18-24) We at Shelter Cove Community Church are excited and ready to help your marriage grow through Four Areas of Tools/Support:

1. TO ENCOURAGE: Sharing the comfort and healing of God’s Word with those that are hurting (2 Cor 1:3-5)
2. TO EQUIP: To show how God’s Word applies to every area of our lives and how His plan works, if we work His plan. (2 Tim 3:16)
3. TO EXALT: To lift up the Name of JESUS CHRIST and how the aspects of worship and praise are crucial to every marriage! (Phil 2:10)
4. TO RESTORE: To provide a safe environment for healing, restoration, and reconciliation for couples who have lost hope. To show through God’s Word that “nothing is impossible with God.” (Matt 19:26)

Shelter Cove’s Statement of Faith Regarding Marriage and Human Sexuality

• We believe God intentionally designed and created humanity male and female. (Gen. 1:27; Gen. 5:1-2; Matt. 19:4; Mark 10:6)
• We believe marriage is ordained and instituted by God and according to the Scriptures can only exist and be fulfilled between a man and a woman. (Gen. 2:21-24; Mark 10:2-12; Matt. 19:3-11; Eph. 5:21-33; 1 Tim. 3:2, 12)
• We believe marriage is a picture of the relationship of Christ and the Church and is to be a lifelong, covenant relationship between a man and a woman based on love, respect, mutual submission and personal sacrifice. (Eph. 5:21-33; I Peter 3:1-7; Mal. 2:14-16; I Cor. 7:10-16; Matt. 5:31-32; 19:3-11)
• We believe God intended sexual intimacy to be enjoyed only within the context of the male and female marriage relationship; and that all other sexual relations outside of marriage are personally destructive, sinful and forbidden by God. ( Heb. 13:4; Gen. 1:28; 2:25; I Cor. 7:2-5; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1:24-32; I Thess. 4:1-8; Jude 1:7)

Prepare For Your Marriage

Because we believe that God designed marriage between a man and woman to last a lifetime, the goal of Shelter Cove Community Church is to properly prepare you for the commitment you are about to make. The pastor that will officiate for your ceremony will also meet with you for your premarital counseling. We also offer premarital classes for those who missed out on taking them prior to their marriage ceremony.

Marriage Counseling Available

Our lay counselors have gone through extensive training dealing with various marriage issues, conflict management, and communication. Should you find yourself in a crisis situation in your marriage, they may be able to help shed light where circumstances may seem quite dark. Growth Groups

Growth Groups give you the opportunity to “do life” with a group of about 8 – 16 other church family members that meet together in a home once per week. You can expect a time of fellowship, study and prayer. Some groups even have a time of worship together. There is a leader/host to help to facilitate the group’s time together. Typically, the study is based on the discussion questions provided in the bulletin each week. These questions are related to the sermon given that weekend.

Please visit the Growth Group link on the Shelter Cove website where you will find an area to sign up as well as a listing of all of the Growth Groups that are currently meeting. Once your name is submitted, you will be placed in group with openings that best fits the parameters you’ve given us.
